Well you can rent a car and get a map to Napa and go up to Mendocino County. Or you can sign up for wine tours for Napa Valley. There's a Train that will take you up around the Forrest's at Mendocino County. It's called the Skunk Train. It goes from Willits to Ft Bragg and in between is the tallest trees you will ever see.

Renting a car keeps you independent, however I thoroughly enjoyed the wine country tour via the 'Wine Train' you do realize that wine country and Yosemite-like areas aren't minutes apart... but both places and the Coast are all worth the drive.

First of all there are many California regions of the wine country. Most think of Sonoma and Napa, there is the Mother Lode such as Calaveras county there are famous for its Zins and cabs, there are regions in Monterey and Paso Robles.

The best would be renting of a car and get out and explore. I like the area of Calaveras, Amador Counties as its smaller and quaint and one will find many winieres for tasting.

For the wine country I would do Napa in a limo. You can do as many wine tastings as you want and not have to worry about driving.

For the sequoias and redwoods, rent a car and drive. Make plans to spend a few nights one day is not enough. Hit Dillion Beach while you're at it.

Get your car or take a Greyhound there and don't forget Napa Valley too. There's also another area down in Temeucla area too.
