Default Is drinking 4 oz. of red wine each night bad for a diabetic, are sugars in wine?

I've been told that drinking 4 oz. of wine before bedtime will help lower your clesterol, but i don't know what effect it will have on a diabetic.
Thank you
mr ed.

Red wine has more sugar in it than white wine, (2.9 grams versus 1.3 grams in a 6oz serving). Wine will not lower your cholesterol, but is thought to cause an increase in the HDL cholesterol, which is the good and protective cholesterol, but even this is debatable with no real clear proof. As for your diabetes - you can see the effect by testing your blood sugar before and 2 hours after. It should be okay to take even if you are diabetic

Alcohol will lower your blood sugar level. Be careful that it doesn't get to low.
