Default What exactly is a wine trail?

My guess is that it's just an area with a lot of wineries. What is the purpose of this? To visit several wineries in one trip? I know Jersey isn't known for its wineries, but it does have what some call "wine trails" although they seem to be a bit too far from each other to be called a "trail." So what exactly does "wine trail" mean?

You go thorough different wineries and sample their wines. By the time you are done, you are drunk.
