Default A good wine-related class/event in Boston?

I'm a Californian living in Boston and I really miss wine tasting. I'd love to learn more about European/Latin and East Coast based wines. Does anyone know any good places to learn about wine?

The quality of staff and inventory are tops at Federal Wine and Spirits, State St., Boston. Peter is the "go to" guy here. He (and the other staff, as well, I've just have come to know him) has always steered me in the perfect direction as far as my wine purchases. He is a modicum of knowledge. Also, they conduct weekly (Wednesdays) free wine tastings, opening wonderful bottles for the public, and contributing to your education. This establishment is a "must see" for wine lovers.

I too lived in the Sierra Foothills and later in the SF bay area. I miss it everyday. Have you checked out some of the high end grocery stores, e.g., Bread and Circus [I think that is the equivalent to Whole Foods] or Leisure Learning [ok kinda cheesy] for wine tasting/education? I have moved back to Texas and met some great folks who have turned me on to decent wine tastings and clubs, e.g., Knights of the Vine, etc. Happy wine hunting!

This is a good website for wine events throughout the US. You could sign up to be notified of future events in Boston if you wanted to: http://www.localwineevents.com/
