How important are bridal shower favors?

It's not necessary, but a nice gesture since guests are bringing gifts. Many of the showers I have been to had small gifts. One of the ones that I actually kept was a martini glass that was given out to each guest with chocolate kisses and a little recipe card that told how to make chocolate martinis. The glasses were probably from the dollar store, but are nice nonetheless and they looked cute with a little ribbon tied around them with the recipe. I would suggest doing something similar since it can still be inexpensive ($1 per guest) and is a nice gesture.
