Default I've heard that if you mix Sparkling Wine (or Champagne) with Vodka you get...

...drunk "faster" than usual? Is this true?

True.

In addition to the extra alcohol that you are adding from the wine or champagne, you are also adding carbonation, which speeds up the absorbtion of alcohol in your stomach and small intestine.

Any bubbly drink [seltzer, soda, tonic] will deliver the alcohol to your blood stream faster because there is oxygen in it.

If you mix sparking wine and vodka you get a double dose of alcohol so of course you'll get drunk faster.

You'll also probably have one heck of a hangover!
