Chianti, Barbera, or Sangiovese would all go well with lasagna.

Learn more about what wine goes with which foods at: http://www.cheers2wine.com/food-and-wine.html

The important thing here is to match the weight of the food with the weight of the wine. Basically, the last thing you want is a heavy entree (i.e. lasagna) paired with a heavy red - plus the lasagna is multi-flavored, and will obscure the intricacies of most wines.

Therefore, my suggestion is a light Chianti or Montepulciano from Italy. Since it has to be under $10, I may suggest a Ruffino or one of the various lighter, fruity Montepulcianos available.

Hope this helps.

Chianti, or Chianti Classico (Italian red)

Ask the wine guys at the wine store for a recommendation in your price range. There may be a really good on for slightly more than $10.

Blackstone Merlot. It retails for 8.99 per bottle as most grocery stores and is good for the price.

The chianti was a good suggestion, but steer clear of shiraz, syrah and pinot noirs. Those are lighter wines and lasagna is not a light dish.

A couple good general rules are that you drink white wine with white meat (fish, poultry) and red wine with red meat (veal, beef); also, drink heavier wines with heavier food (creamy, cheesy or meaty dishes) and lighter wines with lighter food (grilled or steamed food).

Hope this helps and have fun!

Any red would be good. Probably a Merlot or Shiraz would be best and cheapest.
