Default Where is the main wine producing region in QLD? Is there a food and wine trail

to follow? My husband and I have been to most of the wine producing regions in NSW and South Australia for a holiday. We heard QLD was up and coming as a food and wine destination so we were wondering where in QLD we should go. Besides indulging in the local produce we like to play golf and visit the towns in the region.

First things first there are some great wineries in queensland- personally I think most people will head you off to stanthorpe, I think this is the right way to go- you can stock up on wine, apples and olives all at the same place... got to love that.

Also try sirromet wineries based near mount tamborine

The burnett region and also gold coast hinterland are also lesser know regions.

personally the stanthorpe region is the pick of the bunch because you have multiple wineries and can do organised wine tours (booze bus as i like to call them- dont drink and drive)

lastly please feel free to enjoy and support our queensland wineries...

I grew up in Stanthorpe in the Granite Belt [south-east corner, but inland]. The area is very different from the rest of Qld, being elevated and extremely cold in winter! It is also picturesque and attractive, with lots of little hamlets named after French towns that were "visited" by Australian soldiers in the First World War.There are national parks with rugged granite outcrops and rainforest. It also has the best stone fruit and apples I've ever tasted! so Autumn would be the best time to visit.
