Merlots and Cabernet Sauvignons are pretty easy to find in the tasty and relatively inexpensive variety. Beringer, Stone Cellars, or Coppola are all well known brands that cost little but taste a lot.

Alternately, if there is a World Market store in your area, you could try perusing their wine section or asking someone there to recommend a mid-priced red.

Trust me you canNOT go wrong with this wine. When I was a bartender, every single person I served it to loved it... Robert Mondavi Private Selection Merlot. Sounds expensive, but the suggested retail price is $11/bottle. You shouldn't have any trouble finding it.

If he likes a heavy red . a cabernet, or "bulls blood". For good value, I find some South American and Australian wines excellent. Many of the French reds are overpriced and overtouted IMO.

Hello,

I think your idea is great but you can also use Malbec or Merlots and Cabernet because i think it is the best one for your friend and also not very costly so i think you can try that.

good luck!!
