Its all about personal taste, and also, its about the grape, not the 'brand' as such, or the country.

Some very drinkable red grape types are Merlot, or Zinadafel, or Shiraz. But as I said all its all about personal taste, but don't limit yourself to one brand name. someone once told me the deeper the hole (or punt) at the end of the bottle the better the wine, the logic being bottles with deeper punts are more expensive to make so why put cheap wine in them, but this is not 100% true, but its a bit of a starter for a complete novice

Just go to the liquor store and ask them for a good red wine and let them know your price range. Different liquor stores carry different wines. I like merlot, cabernet and zinfindel, but there are lots of other good red wines.

As far as I know, these four are the best kinds of wine out there:

Merlot
Cabernet Sauvignon
Carignan
Margaux

They have classic tastes and can go well with a variety of food.

Cheers!

Generally it seems that local wineries have some pretty tasty wine compared to brands that you can buy in the store. I'd check around for producers in your area and go from there.

Go with a Robert Mondavi Merlot. Its the smoothest and most reliable as far as a consistent taste goes. Plus it will only set you back about 10 to 12 bucks.

What does having a drink have to do with him keeping your secret?...I would think that the Priest sees so many people, hears so many confessions, that your confession is surely lost in his memory by the end of the day......Relax, He is not even obligated to tell your secret no matter how many people you knocked-off.:>

I would try Bogle. It is a very good brand and has some lovely red wines.
