I love Margaret River. The beaches are stunning, the forests are gorgeous, you can go into deep underground caves near by...Lake Cave is particularly nice. My hubby spends the whole time surfing so we spend a lot of time at the beach which is fine by me. The cheese and chocolate factories are close by. Restaurants and cafes are great as are the local art galleries and potteries. The whole town has an aura about it of relaxation. It really is a beautiful spot...if it wasn't so cool there in winter, we'd definately move there!!

Surfing and Scuba Diving. Plus all the country activities like Horse Riding etc. Best Surf in Australia at Margaret River, beats anything Queensland has to offer and even Bells Beach because Bells doesn't go off on a regular basis and the water is way too cold at Bells.

I remember reading something about Australia on this site, www.pocketsommelier.blogspot.com, not sure if Margaret River was mentioned.

I love the Margaret River region! If you are active there are abseiling tours on some of the sea cliffs. Of course the surf is world famous.
If you like things a little less strenuous there are lots of walks in the surrounding forests, art galleries, potteries and yummy restaurants too!
There is the cheese factory not far from Margaret River and the drive to Yallingup is quite pretty.

A drive to Karrivale is worthwhile as is a drive to Hamelin Bay and Augusta. There is a lovely boat trip there that is a lovely way to spend an afternoon.

Have fun....................
